As long as it is awesome.

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

Hey now..haven't really posted in awhile..too busy lurking around, but when I saw this thread I had to post my latest parts/fakecaster that I threw together a few weeks ago. It's assembled with a Guitar Fetish hard tail body, MIM pick guard and coil split pups w/ tone mod and CBS style Squier neck. Suprisingly, the GF body was routed well and all holes lined up! I did have to re-route for the humbucker. It sounds as good as it looks.

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

It's assembled with a Guitar Fetish hard tail body,

Which eliminates it from the Fender cat - but it is perfect for this one! Z-wolf throws down with a sweet blue Fender clone!

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

I guess I could throw this in the ring. It's a Warmoth 'Strat'. Hollow swamp ash body with a flame maple top. Maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard fitted with a Fender LSR nut and Planet Waves Trimlock tuners. Wilkinson VS100 bridge. Seymour Duncan Custom 5 at the bridge and an SH2n Jazz at the neck position. Single volume and tone pots, the latter with a push-push switch to tap either pickup, which are selected through a 3-way.

Warmoth Strat

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

Here is my Strat build. It was made with an OEM Fender Neck and Body. The neck is a reverse with mother of pearl fret markers on both sides, Spezel tuners and a LSR nut. There is also a Babicz bridge. There is a Fralin High Output in the bridge and a Fralin Pure PAF in the neck with a Fralin partial tap kit. The electronics are vol bridge, vol neck and master tone, the switch is B-B (spilt) - Both - N (split) - N with a push-pull phase on the second vol.

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

What the hell...I'll throw this one to the wolves to take apart.

Reid and Son pawlonia body and maple neck w rosewood finger board. Custom shaped the neck at be increasingly asymmetrical from the 7th fret to the nut and gave it a flat back.

Handmade pickguard, maple knobs, woodburned artwork. Nitro clear finish.

Seymour JBJr bridge pickup, wired with a Series/Split/Parallel 3way toggle, SSL52 neck and RWRP middle pickups. 1 vol, 1 master tone, and a blend pot to fade the bridge/neck in or out.

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

Gotta test the limits of this, I have two guitars, a once Fender Mex Std Strat and a Swing EZ-10 in which the only things still original are the woods (body+neck for the Fender, neck-thru for the Swing).

Does the Fender still qualify for the Fender category and if not, do either of the above qualify for this?
Both were once production-line guitars but they are now so far off from what they once were that I am not sure whether they belong here or somewhere else.

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

guess ill enter my # 1.. A 2001 Jackson DK2

Only thing original is the body/neck. Changed the original chrome hardware to black hardware of the same model. Pickups are 1979 Gibson TTop in the bridge, Iron Gear Pig Iron in the mid and a Iron Gear Smoke Stack II in the neck. Added holeless black covers to the SC,wrench holder on the headstock, and Gold knobs with red inlays..The neck is really nice and thin with a modern flat oval D shape which f*ckin rocks. Best neck ive ever played.

All the wiring was done with vintage cloth wire and the cavities have been shielded throughout. The guitar has a push/push Master Volume,Push/Pull Neck & Mid volume and a Dual-Mode tone control. The Master volume bypasses the master volume when pushed,neck-always on is activated by pulling the N+M volume, and the tone control when pushed is a low-pass and pulled is a high-pass. The 5 way is wired traditionally 1)N,2)N+M,3)M,4)M+B,5)B and I have a kill switch

guitar rocks and has the sexiest tone and feel that Ive ever heard.. the bridge pup sounds harmonically rich and clear .when overdriven the sound is very natural and creamy

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

Fender and Squier Stratocasters:
I bought a 2004 Squier affinity strat with white pickguard around April this year. My intention was to simply swap the pups, but that idea got completely tossed out the window a few days later. I went all out installing MIM parts and Seymour Duncan pups however I was unsatisfied with the result of a poor working tremolo and thinner body. I eventually took it all apart and screwed on the original CBS style headstock, now with a new waterslide decal. Fast forward to yesterday, where I scored a 1995, black MIM stratocaster with white pickguard for a ridiculously cheap $150. I went to work on both the guitars. Deep cleaned both of them, shielded them, and installed the 95 MIM's entire pickguard assembly into the squier affinity's body, the MIM receiving an old black pickguard fully loaded with seymour duncan and fender reissue pups, a newer vintage style tremolo with stamped saddles, a Fender 50's reissue MIM maple neck, and all for just under $1000. I got a bit carried away I think.

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

My favourite build from this year, EVH inspired, Purpleheart/Maple body, Maple neck with reverse hockey-stick head-stock, Maple fret-board with Purpleheart stripe, Chrome hardware including Floyd Rose with brass big block & DTuna, custom wound pickup with A2 mag & a functional neck pickup, and the Pièce De Résistance a US quarter - 1984 of course
Sounds absolutely massive, nails the latter VH tones and with the vol rolled back a little does a wicked early EVH sound

I mostly made this last summer before stepping into military service. Pine body, hardtail Strat bridge, Ibanez GSZ120 neck (25.1" scale), nameless single coil in the neck position and humbucker in the bridge (haven´t decided what I´ll put there). 3-way Gibson switch, volume pot. Straight ass rock machine.

It´s been sitting about a year now. Need to order a fret file and some other stuff to finish the neck, then it´s complete.

RG-120 neck, RG321 body. Body was originally finished in some sort of black semi-gloss, from the factory I think.
RCA4SH-6n neck, Alternative 8 bridge, both in Triple Shots, three way switch.
Various pewter appointments including knobs, switch ring, truss rod cover and jack plate (not shown).
I put this together last spring.

Re: Category #3 SUBMISSIONS: Best Build

I put this blood warrior together. So pleased with myself. Sanded and painted body and head, wired in the pups and killswitch. Cut and filed neck to add floyd nut... love it.
