After trying the PG and CC with not perfect results in my quicksilver, I decided to start swapping magnets from my alternative 8. Interesting results.
I loved the CC's lead tones. Has that organic, touch sensitive picking attack. The lows were just too bassy and not bright enough. The PG was better, but its brightness made it hard to find that sweet spot where the lead tones sing to me. I will say though, that the clean and split settings between the 59n and PGb were amazing...
I then took the A8 out of my Alt 8 and tried in the PG.... It was an improvement but the treble in that pickup was not suited for my guitar.. keep in mind Im using a bolted in maple neck, ebony fretboard, korina body, and 25" scale!! I think that the PG would be amazing in a warmer lp though. So I'll save it for that.
So then on to the C8 (thanks bluemen and everyone else!). The magnet was a bit larger so the pickup looks a little funny, but its not bad. I definitely have a better bite to my low chords. A lot more power, and still retain that A2 lead tone up top! I am going to now AB between the CC and C8 a couple times. Im also considering A2 in A JB.
Would the A2 in the JB have more or less output than the C8?
