Celestion - Chinese or British?

Re: Celestion - Chinese or British?

I have Greenbacks and Vintage 30's....4 of each, two Chinese, two English. There is no difference! If you hear a difference it's because the English is older and therefor broken in which will sound different then a brand new speaker, that goes for any brand. Celestion as I understand it built a factory in China and hired employees to produce their product. Unlike other companies who contract a third party factory to produce for them, big difference.......

Re: Celestion - Chinese or British?

The Celestion, G12- Heritage 30 speaker in my Rivera, Venus 3 has "Made in China" on it. The writing isn't very big. I was a bit upset to find a Chinese made speaker in an upper end amplifier.:wrf: However, the speaker sounds great. I'll probably replace it with an English made Alnico Blue one of these days.

Re: Celestion - Chinese or British?

I've found that if the number "50" is on the sticker on the side of the magnet, that it was made in china. I have had both in Vintage 30s. I've had a vintage 30 that had "Made in England" stamped into the frame. I just bought a G12K100 and it Has "made in China" right on the sticker now.

Re: Celestion - Chinese or British?

That said the move of these speakers to hina essentially causes me to boycott the entire Celestion line... I avoid Chinese products like the plague for moral reasons....

Man - I try, but it's so hard these days. Good for you Zerb - I'm proud of ya!
