1x12 or 2x12 How does the volume differ? Advantages of a 2x12?

I have never used a 1x12. i have heard 2x12s that have nice full tone, in the ballpark of a 4x12.........BUT.... these have always been high quality 2x12s and some were ported. I would have no problem purchasing a 1x12 for a low watt amp (thd dr.z) but not for a high watt amp (50 watt and up). the math just does not work out. More than likely will end up with a blown speaker.

Awesome!! I have a similar setup: a 4x12 with the 75's and a 2x12 with the V-30's. Blending them together kind of makes things sounds fuller in a way.

I got that idea from looking at the bogner uberschall cabs. they mix those two speakers. i think the cab might be baffled also. MONSTER CAB!!

I never play with the volume over 2. I could use the 1x12 with the new speaker and the stock Gm12-70 at the same time? The only problem is the rattle in my combo on deep notes sometimes. If the volume is not so much louder then I will get the 2x12
