Celestion g21m greenback speakers, any good?

Hi there

Sorry its a g12m, Just wondering if anyone has used these speakers in their amps or replaced them in their amps before? I was thinking about changing the stock speaker out of my hughes and kettner 20watt tube amp which is basically a closed back combo.
I am after something smooth, fairly tight in the low end and definetly not harsh in the midrange or high frequencys. I hear the term "woody' being described with this speaker can anyone explain. Your help would be great

Cheers Dills

I've got one in my 2x12(mated to a G12H30) and have done a test by close micing each speaker seperately and here's what I heard:

G12M(25w)-Darker, warm, earlier cone breakup(In a very good way)

G12H30(30w)-A little brighter, but NICE warmth, great lowend and no spiky highs, tighter. My personal favorite as a single speaker for a lower wattage combo.

Someone else will have to add to the mids issue. I do know that one gets the lower mids and the other gets the upper mids and together sound perfect.

Big sounding mids for distorted sounds. Very responsive. Tigh bass and smooth highs.
Good all-round speaker for rock. I really like them for Marshall amps.
I agree with Rid - more is better :D
