Celestion V-Type?

Have you used the Celestion V-Type? How would you describe it? Is it similar to other Celestions? Is it better for 60s 70s rock or can it also handle high gain-ish 80s rock/metal? Is it a flop as the old Senventy80?

Re: Celestion V-Type?

I have a V-type in a Fender extension 1X12 cab.

Bright yet thick. A great all-rounder. Rated at 70 watts, so it can take some punishment. Watch that bass if you play a Fender loud. Loves -- I mean, LOVES -- humbuckers, but not bad at all with my Tele.

It just feels like a good, affordable, middle-of-the-road Celestion. Jack of all trades, but a master of none, perhaps. Comparing it to other speakers, you might think of it as a more forgiving (less trebly and penetrating) Vintage 30.
