Celestion vintage 30 or greenback

Re: Celestion vintage 30 or greenback

gibson175 hit the nail on the head. You shouldn't replace that speaker.

But the G12H30 is a great speaker for any and all classic rock (it does Jimi and it does Jimmy), and being able to additionally handle 80's metal anyway. The G12M25's won't handle 80s metal in an open back cab situation as good as the G12H30. I'd probably go with the regular G12H30 versions rather than the more expensive Heritage version from the link.

Love my H30-loaded Marshall 4X12! Just so lively, and very pleasant to listen to. Whereas my V30-loaded Bogner 2X12 can get prety obnoxious. It works well for gigs, because it cuts through so well. But for daily practice at home, the H30s get the regular use.

BTW... I agree with the sentiments that a different amp is the way to go for the reasons listed. Upgrade to a tube amp, then worry about speaker choise and continue to use your Vyper for practice.

Re: Celestion vintage 30 or greenback

Since the amp comes with "One 12" custom voiced modeling speaker" my money is on anything sounding better! I normally go for Greenbacks but wattage could be a concern. A Vintage 30 might not be a bad choice, once it's good and broke in it should sound stellar. A beam blocker might do it some good too.......
i think i will try the BEAMBLOCKERS
