So what are the differences between those two models concerning:
*Overall tone
*Tightness
*Breakup

Which one would you recommend to accompany a V30 in a 2x12?

thanks

There's no question that the G12H will have a warmer overall tone and an earlier breakup. As far as tightness goes; all three are using the heavy ceramic magnet, so they should be fairly close. I'd go G12H with a V30 because of the extra warmth mainly. I assume you will be running a 50 watt or less through it?

The leadis the 80w, no?

great speaker, a little sterile for me, and kind of focused. It's thick, rich, and full but it just doesn't really move or do anything. For some reason the Mesa 90w (which is similar to the 80w) has a lot more mojo and soul.

That being said, the G12H30 is gorgeous. Full, has an amazing breakup, which is a little less midrange-y and smooth when compared to the v30. Many say the G12H30 has qualities of the V30 and the Greenbacks - I tend to agree.

The G12H30 OR the Greenback sound wonderful with the V30, however, the G12H30 wins for tightness and tone at high volumes. G12H30s only get sweeter as you wear them in and crank them. They are NOT a low volume speaker. At least medium volume to hear their sweet tone and soul.

The 80 watt Classic Lead has a little bit more of an American tone to it, IMO. It's a very good speaker, but to me it's like 50/50 British/USA in voicing. A little less crunchy honk than some of the other Celestions. Lew
