Celtic Franklin!

Are all the guitar tracks on the first example recorded with the Franklin? All dry with no distortion or boost? Just the amp?
I used a slight bit of studio reverb because the recording does not do justice to the nice open-back ambience of this amp. I should have used 2 mics I guess - one in front, one in back.
All of the guitar parts are done with the Franklin - no pedals.

Re: Celtic Franklin!

I just loaded them onto my website. Thanks again Steve. I'm just sitting here listening to the first tune. Dude, I dig the heck out it. You'll have to teach it to me next time I see you.

Next stop, Evan's house for a little post-Thanksgiving jam with buddies...

Re: Celtic Franklin!

Top notch playing, Top notch tone! What more could you ask for :)

Re: Celtic Franklin!

Here's another little jam: franklin rock
I put one mic diagonal to the cone and one 3 feet behind the amp, facing the back of the speaker - trying to get some natural ambience that is lost in recording translation :13:

Re: Celtic Franklin!

Sounds really sweet. Lot of dynamics. Excellent stuff, Stevo.

P.S. how did you record the bass? I really liked the tone.

Thanks for listening Marin. I use ACID loops for drums and bass. I used one-shots for this tune. It's more tedious but you have more control than with predefined loops.

Re: Celtic Franklin!

Damn those clips sound great Stevo. Scott you just got another customer, once I get out of college and get a job though. Been needing something for fender type stuff.

Re: Celtic Franklin!

Like I say on my website....

"Give this amp 30 minutes of your life and you will plan to own it, but truth be told, it will own you. "

Re: Celtic Franklin!

Another great clip steve...nice mild crunch...

Great amp Scott, you should be proud! :)

...now like I said, get an Edana over to Steve PRONTO :D

Re: Celtic Franklin!

I'm quite frankly speachless with both the tone and playing. The tone is really sweet and articulate. The playing was AMAZING. Scott, Stevo, you both did outstanding jobs. Words can't discribe my amazement. Some of the best tone and tasteful playing I've heard in a long time.

Re: Celtic Franklin!

Holy Dirt thanks much for listening. I am glad that some of you find the tune as ear-friendly cuz I wanted to do a good job for my buddy Scott_F :D It's a fun amp. I felt inspired as soon as I fired it up for the 1st time :)

Re: Celtic Franklin!

oh boy...from reading these posts i gotta listen to this when i get home ASAP!!!!

Re: Celtic Franklin!

I've got Franklin in my office at the moment.

Seymour and Kevin Beller (Chief Engineer) have expressed the desire to check him out before I take him home for the long weekend. Saturday night, I have a jam at my house with Seymour, Adrian Galysh and some other players. We'll see which one of us gets to play through the Franklin.

Re: Celtic Franklin!

:eek2: is all I can say right now. Absolutely amazing. That tone...:32:....wow. I think I know where I'll be getting my next tube amp from. Stevo, those clips are great. Excellent playing. Scott, you've create a monster, just 15 watts, but a monster nonetheless.

Re: Celtic Franklin!

You are all falling into my evil plan quite nicely.... bwahahhahaha!

Take the amp into the bunker and wail a while. :)

Your neighbors are going to be so pissed this weekend...:newangel:

Re: Celtic Franklin!

I didn't like the two first clips, but this rock clip is amazing. Maybe the reason why I didn't like the two first clips has something to do with my taste in music rather than the tone of the amp though, since the rock clip is amazing.

Re: Celtic Franklin!

OK, I just came back from the SD sound room where I listened to Scott Miller play this thing at full tilt. Dang. This is a really great-sounding amp. It's got that Vox AC-15 thing going bigtime.

Also, it works really well with the (not yet released) SFX-03.

Scott, are you really selling these for around a grand to the first few (lucky) takers? That's a steal.
