Champ X2, confused on impedance, quick answer needed. Thanx!

Hi,
Gonna check out a Super Champ X2 tomorrow, but it turns out you can get just the head for 40-50 bucks less. No brainer right? Problem. The combo says 4 ohm minimum. the head says 8 ohm minimum. Does that mean in the combo I could run a 16 or 8 or 2X8 ohm, as long as the impedance doesn't go BELOW 4 ohm?????
On the head that says 8 ohm min, does that mean the same thing, 16X2, 16, or 8 ohm is still fine, as long as I don't go below 8????
Talked to Fender and I gotta say, while he was very nice and friendly, he just got me more confused.
SJ.......I have many 8 ohm celestions in the storage room.

the combo has an 8 ohm internal speaker, and the 4 ohm out is to connect the 8 ohm 1x12 extension speaker. The head can use any 8 ohm or higher cab, but only has the single speaker out.

Yes, you pretty much got it, the X2 works best with a 1x12 8 ohm cab but it will also take a 2x8 ohm or 1x16 ohm cab. as far as the 4 ohm in the combo, I think that pertains to the internal speaker only, if you use the exe. speaker jack I think it has to be 8 ohms as well but I only have the head & matching 8 ohm 1x12 box, if you buy the head you should consider buying the cab as well. Not that it won't sound great with the speakers you have but it is a special design speaker cab witch doesn't mean much unless you want to use Fuse, then you'll prob want the matching speaker

Allbutromeo and Toomanyguitars , I thank you, and I know what you say makes sense, I just plain do not understand it!
Are you saying that if I UNPLUG the speaker in the combo, all speaker combinations are fine as long as they don't go below 4 ohm? Same for the head, all is good but do not go under 8 ohms. Using the examples I mentioned?
Can I use an 8 ohm speaker with the combo, as long as I unplug the combo speaker, which I assume is a 4 ohm?
I beg your pardon, and forgive me, for some reason I can't quite get it.
If they said 8 ohm only or 4 ohm only, well, that speaks for itself. It's the minimum jargon that keeps me from understanding what I can't and can do - in both cases.

It's easy to understand the confusion. Fender causes this confusion across the board regarding many of their amps. I don't own the X2, but just looked up the specs on the Fender web site. It's the same confusion as many others, but here's what I am absolutely positive about on others. The nominal impedance is 8 ohms (the combo's speaker is 8 ohms) There is a parallel speaker jack which is there for the addition of another 8 ohm speaker. This yields a total impedance of 4 ohms do to the parallel connection. Combo and head are the same except for the obvious inclusion of the speaker.

Fender's web site states "two parallel speaker out" but the picture shows only one!!!!! Knowing what I know about Fender tube amps, I'd go with what I mentioned above (one or two 8 ohm speakers depending on your choice). If your amp has only one output jack, a splitter could be used.

Just a guess on my part, but I wonder if this confusion is the result of a tech. writer whose first language is not English? (It's so common to outsource such tasks.)

That is easier to follow, So I am going to probably pair it with an 8 ohm Vintage 30 Celestion.
