I have an original Real Tube 901 on my pedalboard, though I most use the Lead Channels of my Mesa Boogie amps for my Lead tones. I bought the Real Tube about 1994.
I swapped the 12AX7 for a GT12AU7, and I'm much happier with the unit. The lower gain tube gave me more range on the gain knob--and the distortion is very sweet and Mesa-ish.
