Change function of push pull pots

I have just bought a washburn parrallaxe with a set of seymours installed, a jb and jazz running through two volumes ( pull for coil tap ) and one tone.
What I would like is to have either series/parallel or phase reversal for both pickups on a push pull pot in the tone position too.
Can this be done?

Re: Change function of push pull pots

If it's the standard 6-pin push-pull you can do one series/parallel wiring combo per pickup. Likewise, phase reversal will require both poles of 6-pin, two-pole switch.

It's kind of amazing how much fun you can have with some DPDT push/pull pots and four-conductor humbuckers

Here are basic diagams for coil splitting

And the basic lead wiring for the p/p pot to do series/parallel switching instead of coil splitting

but if you wanted to reverse phase on the pickup itself this would be the wiring to the p/p pot

Now if you wanted to retain your coil splits but then link them to a 'master' phase switch that puts both humbuckers out of phase with each other this would be your wiring

to link the 'master' reverse phase to a series/parallel switch instead this would be the wiring to follow

Re: Change function of push pull pots

Thanks to all.
Another option I am thinking of is to add triple shots to both pickups and using the push pulls as individual phase reversal switches.

Change function of push pull pots

If you have 3 push pulls you can have inner or outer coils splits and when both are pulled the humbuckers are in parallel giving hum free single coil tone

I used the above and added a 3rd push pull for reversing phase of the neck pickup for out of phase but it only works when both are in humbucking mode using this scheme.

I like this because when both humbuckers are selected, inner coils simulates strat cluck, outer coils simulates Tele spank, and in parallel you get an almost cross between Tele and filtertron-like tone - but no hum.

Re: Change function of push pull pots

Those Parallaxe guitars are nice- I recently saw Trevor Rabin with one. It had a ton of tones in there. Let us know what you experiment with, and what you ultimately end up choosing.

Re: Change function of push pull pots

The Jimmy Page push-pull system has coil cuts for both PU's, along with phase and series/parallel. I doubt anyone uses all 21 combinations, but some are definitely useful. Without modification, it's for 4 pots; I've added a pot to guitars when the control cavity had the space for another one. Is that a possibility for yours?
