Changing Black Top pickups but not switching, need serious help!

Bros, I'm putting some Alnico II Pro hummers in my Fender Black Top and I want to keep the switching scheme the same as the factory, but I don't know how to wire the Duncan's to the Fender switch. Could someone please help me out with the wiring for this?

This switch is crazy!!!

Yeah, it is a super switch. It looks like a b!+@h! :banghead:

I found a diagram that shows how to do the 5 way with a coil tap on the Duncan site.

I'm gonna take the easy route and do that, but Bro I really, really appreaciate the response and the web site. I'll post pictures when I get done. :thanks: :friday: Peace Bro...

wait a sec.

take a deep breath, whip out the multimeter, paper and pencil, and hear me/us out.

first of all, draw on a piece of paper a schematic version of the switch. all the terminals, what goes what, and colorcodes of the pickups.

you see that the pickup has some colored wires together at some spot, and then some other colored wires at some other places. I don't have my glasses right now (and the pic is a bit too blurry) so I can't tell what goes where. but you can, so: write it down!

then, desolder all the leads of one pickup. use the multimeter to see what connects to what. Green goes with...? red? black? white goes to...?what?

you see that 2 wires going from the pickup soldered together are on the switch. I can assume with an educated guess that that spot is for the coiltap.

so, solder the duncans exactly the same way! red/white goes on spot where the green/white is right now (at least, I assume it's green/white, I just can't see it that well). earth to earth, etc etc.

just copy and paste! uhm... solder.

it aint that hard.

Dammit! :banghead: I already soldered the green and white to the neck spot, and put the strings on. Well I'll tune it up and see how it sounds. If it sounds like crap, back to the drawing board , and I'll do the red and white. Thanks Bro... :14:

Re: Changing Black Top pickups but not switching, need serious help!

Orpheo, I took your advice. Deep breath, and went back at it. It was a lot easier. I kept the green/white and found it was the red with the bare wire on ground, and the black on the tone side of the switch. Thanks everybody, I'm rock'in now! :headbang:

Well, It didn't work right either :banghead:. So what I've resolved to do is pull the super switch altogether, drop in a three way, and call it a day.
