Changing pups in a PRS

Re: Changing pups in a PRS

-------Update!---------

Stock Duncan mounting screws will not fit.

Also; if you use the PRS screws, or buy some nice contemporary philips head HB screws from GC, a long leg neck HB will fall off the screws before it sits low enough :censored:

So for the neck HB short legs only.

Re: Changing pups in a PRS

after much mucking about :banghead:

final verdict: Short Legs, Shorter Mounting Screws, + Shorter Pole Screws

Re: Changing pups in a PRS

None of my PRS guitars required short legs on the pickups. None of my USA made and none of my Korean made.

In this photo, you're looking at Seth Lovers, Antiquitys, 59's and Pearly Gates.

Not saying the PRS Mira doesn't. I have no experience with it.

Re: Changing pups in a PRS

I'm curious; did regular Seymour Duncan mounting screws fit in those lovely axes? Regular SD mounting screws not fitting under the pickguard was the first indicator that things were getting complicated with the S2 Mera.

Maybe the title of this topic should be changed in order to stave off unproductive posts.

My pickups all have mounting rings. No pickguard. But yes, the regular ht. adjustment screws worked in all but one and that one I just trimmed a little of the length of the two screws off of the bottom. It was a neck pickup. Wasn't a serious issue. The pickup fit fine but the two ht. adjustment screws were maybe 1/8" too long.
