what are the setup changes you have to do when you change string gauge on an electro-acousitc?? (for good intonation)

they say it's only the truss rod....

thank you very much dear forumates!!

Re: changing string gauge on electro-acoustic

Well, without refiling the bridge slot insert or repositioning the bridge, adjusting the truss rod is just about the only adjustment you CAN do on an acoustic and most E/As as far as intonation goes. ;)

Re: changing string gauge on electro-acoustic

that's what i was actually thinking! you cannot mess with the bridge too much on an electro acousic, due to electronics, i THINK you cannot even lower it.... the question is, is the truss rod adjustment really sufficient?

You can adjust the saddle height, but you need to file the saddle. Filing a saddle is a PITA, though...

Especially if you have four of them on your guitar. :D

Unfortunately, there aren't many ways to make adjustments on an acoustic. I guess if you went to a guage that was too large you might have to enlarge the nut, but I've never seen it myself.

PITA ????

isn't there a wire connected to the saddle???????
