Actually, Basswood is not a bad sounding wood. I've got a guitar made of it, and I get awsome rock and blues tones out of it.

If I wanted a guitar like these, I would build it from Warmoth parts. Do the finish yourself. You could buy all the parts, and with finish costs have less than $700-$800 into it, and probably have superior parts. Anything EVH touches is overpriced IMO.

the warmoth guitar in my opinion would be just as good and just like jeff said the parts would be better. and yes everything EVH touches is overpriced.

In Vancouver on holidays last week i saw and played 2 Charvel EVH's..... A B&W one and a B&Y one...... The sticker price was $3299 Canadian.... For $1200 Canadian i could build a guitar just like it from Warmoth...

BTW...Zerb..school me on the MIA "production" Jacksons, please...good value? EDIT :they may be japanese for all I know...SL series...SL3 in particular

USA Selects are handmade in batches of 12 alongside and by the same people that make the Custom Shop pieces. Top notch hardware, materials and workmanship, comparable to ANY manufacturer or luthier out there. THe USA Select series was actually only started in 1990 as a way to get Jacksons in the stores, they´re essentially the average of the customs that got ordered, and and the last few years marketing has been to keep the prices low. This applies to the SL-1, SL-2 (and variants like T, HT...), the SL-3 and SL-4 are MIJ
