I have to say - NOT having a Floyd guitar in the 80's/90's...he was a bit of an inspiration about living life without a Whammy.

I have no need for a non-Floyd superstrat, to be honest, but I love that Charvel are releasing Jake models.

Honestly, I could'nt believe it when I heard he did'nt use a Floyd. He had so many crazy embellishments and tricks he threw into his playing that I would have sworn were done with a whammy. My fave Ozzy guitarist by far :bigthumb:

Me and Jake backstage after he played my club. He is a really nice guy and had some awesome stories.

Cool. The band I played in opened up for him in '94. It was after Badlands when he was playing with Mandy Lion. And yes, he was a super nice guy.

Jake is by far my fav Ozzy guitarist. I wish he did a few more albums with him, with some better tunes on them.

As with most products out there nowadays (and the corresponding **** QC), caveat emptor.

I was excited but not anymore. A freaking plastic nut on a guitar costing more than $1000. Not even a bag, and apparently horrible QC.

I don’t think that’s going to stop me

I’m pretty surprised with the QC. I had a cheaper pro mod and it was well setup. I’ll probably get it from Sweetwater or other stores where they check the guitar before shipping. I’ve seen other reviews online and that seems to be the only bad one.

I've never had a problem with Sweetwater.

Lol...I got rid of my So Cal 2 years ago cause of bad QC. It seems the quality has gone south since Fender acquired it from that Texan company.

Fender bought Charvel / Jackson in late 2001, while the Pro Mod series didn't come out until 2008. I'm not sure how the Internet collective feels about it now, but IMO the predictions of doom and gloom were vastly overblown. If anything, the first several years under Fender saw an improvement in quality if anything. I haven't played a 2022 model yet, but the few I've played over the last couple years didn't have any glaring issues. That being said, I already have 3 MIJ model series Charvels so I don't really need a new one.
