Charvel japanese strat and pickups

Looking for some advice on a potential purchase and pickup upgrade. Considering purchasing a late 80's MIJ Charvel strat (part of the series with the strat head) and from my research I understand that these were decent guitars that gave Fender's own Japanese models a few worries. Feedback on harmony central suggests that the necks were really nice but that the pick-ups were a bit weak and needed shielding. I am looking for either a s/s/s combo with a s/c sized humbucker in the bridge or possibly a full sized humbucker (or p-rails) in the bridge with two singles. As a tonal benchmark I was thinnking along the lines of Jake E.Lee but I have never been a huge fan of the JB - any suggestions welcome

You may want to try the "Seymour Duncan Everything Axe Single-Coil Electric Guitar Pickup Set" for SSS. The JB Jr. is a pretty cool pup in the bridge.

You could also do something a little more traditional with Classic stack singles and a Duncan Custom in the bridge for HSS.

Amp is a Marshall DSL 401 combo - have been thinking about a DiMarzio SD S or Tone Zone in the bridge (possibly a chopper) with Area 67s of 61s in neck and middle - any ideas what the Seymour equivalent would be?
