No difference i believe spec-wise. I cant recall if Charvel switched to Mexico in 2013 or just this year but either way try going older as that is old stock and you might be able to talk down the price a bit.

It sucks that Sam Ash doesn't carry Charvel anymore. At least not in the stores. They always tell me they still carry them but don't stock them. They can order me one. Who orders a guitar without playing it first? I for one can't. I gotta bond with my guitar before it comes home with me.
The Pro Mod series is exactly what I'm looking for in my next guitar but I have only played the older models. The last ones I played where the models with the Floyd Mounted to the guitar not recessed in. I really dig the hard tail model with the Single coil and Humbucker in the bridge. I do however wonder why they didn't put a maple fret board on it or at least offer it? I like rosewood fret boards and it will probably give the guitar a darker tone which is something I prefer anyway. I just like the look of the Maple better.

I own the 2009 USA ProMod and played the Japanese which came after, both awesome guitars. From what I heard the Mim ProMods are close to the Japs with just a few coming short with quality details. Charvel necks are IMHO the best production necks of FMIC, if any flaws it'd be at the body's end.
