Chat GPT on EVH Pickups

There are a ton of complex algorithms that grade the data on hundreds of data points. How many pages are linking into the information, what kind of pages are linking into the information, what kind of site is the information being found on - blog, .EDU, news site, how old the information is, what language it is in....the list goes on and on. So if ChatGPT finds information on allergies on the AMA or Mayo Clinic website, it will grade that information higher than the 10-year-old info it finds on a Mommy & Me blog.

So, it is not regurgitating data or simply putting together what it sees as the most common answer.

I understand the theory, but I also realize that the people creating the rules for the algorithm have a tremendous amount of leverage in which direction it will go-at the very best, it reinforces the orthodox view, at worst (and there have been plenty of examples) it denies reality, creates fake data or simply lies. That will get better, but it will still be at the mercy of the people drawing the lane markers, and those people are completely anonymous, not interrogatable and essentially immune from consequences. We've put a faceless group of unelected, unknown people in charge of what is 'true' and what will feed the LLP; that's terrifying, IMHO.

Again - it is a very sophisticated program. "AI" by any standard which we should be concerned or worried about, yeah...no.

I just asked specifically which pickup will give me the sound of Van Halen's first album.

Eddie Van Halen famously used a modified Gibson PAF humbucker in his guitar for the first Van Halen album, which gave him a unique and iconic tone. While it may be difficult to replicate his exact sound, there are humbucker pickups on the market that are designed to provide a similar tone.

One popular option is the Seymour Duncan SH-11 Custom Custom pickup, which is designed to provide a versatile tone that can handle everything from classic rock to heavy metal. This pickup has a bright and articulate sound, with a balance of warmth and clarity that can help you achieve the classic Van Halen tone.

Another option is the DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion, which is known for its high output and aggressive sound. This pickup has a thick, powerful tone with plenty of sustain, which can help you achieve a similar sound to Eddie Van Halen's early recordings.

It's worth noting that the pickups are just one part of the overall equation when it comes to achieving a particular guitar tone. Other factors, such as your guitar's wood, strings, and amp settings, can also have a significant impact on your sound. However, if you're looking to get a tone similar to Eddie Van Halen's early recordings, these pickups might be a good place to start.

So let's examine those points:
1. NOW it says a Gibson PAF. Of course, it doesn't mention anything about the pickup having been rewound...but before it said SuperD or JB.
2. It said a CC. While this is also true, it is clear these were not used on VH1. And the description of it is flat out wrong. And it certainly is NOT a substitute for a PAF.
3. We all know that SuperD is usually never a bad answer. And it was likely heard on some of that album.

These are all pickup "facts" that might be found on any pickup manufacturers page. Collectively sorted well, and while not wrong per se, by by no means a "good" answer to me.
