ok first off a confession.. im british hahahaaa

anyway im thinking of buying a cheap no-name chorus pedal... for £20 cos really my pockets are empty and some songs in my new band are calling for something more than reverb.
the place i went to had a whole series of noname effects... being very touchy about sound im not keen on the so called 'distortion' pedal and will probably leave my boosting up to the new boss dynadrive.
but you cant really get chorus wrong can you?? can u really tell the difference between a cheaper chorus pedal and say a boss unit?? (boutique pedals not included)

Re: cheap chorus pedal

I recently bought a 90's-vintage Ibanez "Soundtank" chorus pedal from eBay for laughs. It was only $6. It actually sounds pretty good. Mechanically, it really cheap - plastic case, tiny knobs and questionable switch.

The CHinese company that made the Soundtank line for Ibanez is called Daphon. They still make pedals, and distribute them world-wide under a variety of names.

Danelectro Fab Chorus - I have one and it does everything I want it to do. and only 15 bucks new

Re: cheap chorus pedal

rocktron makes affordable equipment, but it's really worth it. their stuff is really good. i'm particularly fond of their hush noise reduction, silver dragon, utopia g100, and wah pedal (all products which i've tried). check them out.

I'm rather fond of my DOD FX65. Mine is a newer version of this one. Metal casing, jacks are bolt-on, overall a sturdy piece of equipment.

I'm one of those weird folks that doesn't care for the Boss chorus.

The Dano Cool Cat is :cool3: too.

Re: cheap chorus pedal

Behringer makes cheap clones of boss pedals (among other copies too) so try one of their chorus's or better the dimension c clone. Better then cheap pedals with cheap designs.

+1. I love my Rocktron delays, I own two. I've had them apart, and they are very well-built. The only downside is they are large.

+1 on the Rocktron stuff!! I now only use a Rocktron Deep Blue as my Chorus and sold my Boss and other units. I got spoiled by the rocktron Choruses after buying a Voo Doo Valve on line Rocktron Preamp. They are resonably price sound incredably liquid and sweet + are well built and reliable.

The Danolectro Cool Cat is a great sounding cheap chorus and if you use it in stereo plugged into two amps it sweeps back and forth and gets a HUGE sound. But it's a little noisy if you're playing quietly and let the guitar signal ring and fade out. Still: it's my favorite "cheap" chorus pedal. Lew
