Lookin' for something cheap I can pick up on the 'bay, 200ish or so, the lower the better, but in a dual HB configuration with no sort of trem unit. I'm open to all suggestions!

best deal I've found ona guitar as of yet in an Epiphone G-400 (technically an SG) Faded.... new it is only 300. It's the exact same as a normal SG, but it's shine is got and has a more satin finish instead. Used, I'm sure you can pick one up under $230

+1. An Epi G-400 is hard to beat for value. They've had Grover rotomatics on them for years so you don't have tuning issues. All 22 frets clear of the body, so you have the full neck to play on. The body is lightweight & has curves in all the right places. Very comfortable. I've got a few & love them. I put Duncan and Gibson PU's in mine. Sound great.

squier tele custom, if you want something long-scale

There are some old Peavey models that would fit your requirements. They usually can be found for less than $200.

Peavey V-Type, First Act Lola (plan on changing the pickups), Squier Stagemasters...

For 2 bills, you just gotta try it, and be willing to put a little elbow grease into it. If it works, you win!

With $200 I'd get a Squier '51 and put in a few orders to the good people at Stew-Mac and GFS...

Guess what I play more than my American guitars?

have you checked out http://www.rondomusic.com? there's a ton of those types of guitars in your price range.

+1.

I just received my SX STL-50 that I'm using as a mod-platform, and the fit and finish of the body/neck is outstanding for a $99 guitar (heck, it's outstanding for a $300-$400 guitar!). The electronics are mostly junk (I can dig the neck pickup, but can't get anything useful out of the bridge pickup, and the 3-way switch is way flimsy), and it could use new tuners and a new nut (but those can be done at any point I have extra cash)...but man, the quality of the body and neck is outstanding.

You can find low end Schecter's on eBay in that range. They have pretty good quality control on those and the Duncan Designed pickups will compare with anything in that price range.
