Cheap looper pedals?

I'm looking for a cheap looper pedal for home practicing, and as a songwriting aid (so I can try out different lead/rhythm parts while writing). Something that has maybe 10 minutes of looping time, is easy to use, takes your standard Boss style power adapter, and maybe bonus points for having a drum machine or something.

So far I'm looking at the Boss RC-1 Loop station and the TC Electronics Ditto. Anything else I should be checking out, or any major flaws/problems with these two that I should know?

You are looking for a good bit of features, so those two are probably as low, price wise, as you're going to get.

I personally have a TC Electronics Ditto X2 and really like it. It has two buttons you can set up for on/off while you are recording and over dubbing which is nice, and a USB output so you can download the loop you created into a DAW if you like.

Reverb has great prices on both of those if you don't mind used or B-Stock.

NUX Core Loop is a clone of the RC3 for $99. Hard to beat.

It does look pretty feature packed. Do you have any experience with it? I'm always a bit suspicious of stuff like that because I don't want to spend the time learning a new pedal if it's going to crap out on me in six months.

I also remember really wanting to try out the Digitech Trio several years ago when it launched. Anything similar kicking around for cheap these days?

I don't own one unfortunately.

EHX Nano 360 also looks like it's another potential one. Hmmm.

I have EHX 720. Basically does all that Ditto X2 in simpler form. Really been liking it. Since it's only 45 € more, I would pick that over 360 any time.

Re: Cheap looper pedals?

I use a Jamman Express for songwriting, and improvising. I don't need drum tracks, or the ability to save loops. The tiny little Ditto would work just as well, too.

How cheap?

For reeeeaalllll cheap, I'd use a cellphone looping app and cellphone mic input and headphones

I've had mine for a few years & use it all the time, still works fine. Great loop pedal for the price. If it died I'd get another :bigthumb:

Re: Cheap looper pedals?

Keep in mind that feature-packed looping pedals often make compromises in how you loop, and sometimes make it difficult while looping to get to all the features without bending down.

Re: Cheap looper pedals?

If you have a foot-switch you're golden. It does everything you could expect a basic loop pedal to do & does it easily & well. I think the only limiting factor with the Nux is the 16 bit recording ..too many overdubs and it turns mushy, but they've got a new "deluxe" version out that's 24 bit & comes bundled with a foot-switch for about $125-150. Pretty sure I'll pick one of those up in the near future.

I have the simple $99.99 Ditto. And I really love it. It's so simple to use. Only downside is you have to buy a chord. I figured one day I would upgrade, but right now it does everything I need. So fun to play with. My buddy and I will record a rhythm track and take turns playing lead over it. It has really increased my playing skills.
