Re: Cheap MXR ODs

Here is a pic of mine after I was done modding it. It was easy and fun as it was my first time modding a pedal. I used a mini on/on and it took me may be 20 mins total. If I was going to do it again, I would put the switch on the top side in that same corner because the lugs almost touch the board when you put it on the front with the knobs.

I really like my ZW. Didn't know about the switch inside. I guess I know what my next project will be. I have this compulsion to tweak.

Re: Cheap MXR ODs

You'd think that working at GC I would've tried this pedal by now but I haven't really had the chance, haha.

We ran out of ZW's long ago and are not reordering, as a store. The M86 Classic Distortions sold out pretty much in two days... we had 20 of them.

After hearing one of my co-workers geeksterbate over the Classic OD M66 I finally tried it out... for 40 bucks I was super impressed.

I think I'll buy one tomorrow as a backup to my OCD. I really liked how it was kinda neutral in the mids. Hell, I might buy two!

hehe, like i've been saying i've got both on my board and for the $30 apiece i bought them for they can't be beat:D

Re: Cheap MXR ODs

I picked up a Classic Overdrive on the 31st for $39.99 and used it that night at a NYE gig. Didn't even try it at the store and didn't have time after getting home. The first time I heard it was during sound check.

Needless to say, I'm impressed. I dig the Wylde OD but I think I like the Classic Overdrive more. I ran it with the tone at noon, gain at around 2 o'clock and level anywhere from 9-10 o'clock, and through the UK 70's model in my Vox AD50VT. The model is set with very slight breakup (I use it for my cleans too) and the Classic OD sounds great with it.

For the price, you can't go wrong. It's going to stay on my pedalboard (which has grown a little and now a real pedalboard - needed the room and hardshell case....lol).

Re: Cheap MXR ODs

Well I picked one up. Gonna put it where my OCD is tomorrow and test it in rehearsal.

Re: Cheap MXR ODs

fwiw...i experimented with the toggle switch to see which sound was better with a dirty marshall amp. I like the zw, but the classic sound is meatier and more responsive.
