GFS VEH in the bridge and Dream90 in the neck

Good USED pickups.

Cheap pickups can be good, they're just hit or miss (like used PU's).

Brands like Donlis or Fleor have a good reputation, based on the use of correct materials. FWIW.

Different categories:

1. New, branded (seymour, dimarzio, etc)
2. Used, branded
3. Used, OEM
4. New, unbranded

Of all four categories, in the first three you know what you are getting. The last category (amazon pickups) you have no idea how they will sound.

Since none of the branded pickups are sub-$60, the only category that meets original criteria is #4 (amazon pickups)

In reality, pickups from category 1-3 are better buy because you know what they will sound like and they have some resale value.

I love to experiment with GFS... some classics like dream and mean 90s, but one of my favorites is their D Cruiser knock off...

Of course that introduces a moral delima... DiMarzio did the heavy lifting but GFS is getting $
