Cheap Solid State Little Fender?

I have a little Blackstar IBeam 20 watt amp for a grab and go

Only it doesn't have a provision for a handle
Or any way to mod.one for a handle

Currently it resides in a fitted duffle bag
Along with cables and such

The actual SS transistor Fenders don't sound very good. It wasn't until they started using digital modeling that they started getting close to the tube sounds. I use a Tonemaster Deluxe live, and it is fantastic.

I have to disagree. I have two awesome SS fenders my M80 Pro and my Bassman B100. The Fender Roc Pro 1000 combos Yngwie uses get rave reviews. There are a lot of great SS Fenders out there. I will agree the stuff that hits the mainstream like the Frontman series leaves something to be desired.

It's hard to beat the Hughes & Kettner Edition Blue 60R. (Not the 60 DFX.) It comes with a Celestion 12" speaker and has an effects loop and reverb. Problem is, you don't see them come up for sale very often.

(And lights up in cool blue.)

Yeah...those are not cute little bedroom amps....

When I played the Champion 20 and 40 I was impressed with them as a practice amp for sure. Myself I’m using a Blues Cube in the bedroom, but sometimes I get busy on the couch too. (That got weird, didn’t it)?

Yeah...no. That's the solid state we are all talking about that sucks. Or at least isn't good.
Mine was good for being pennies, or at least I thought it was way better than the comparable Marshall MG, but if it's not what you want, fair enough.

Try to find a used Super Champ XD or X2. Those were pretty much a Mustang with a tube poweramp and a 10" speaker. Pretty underrated amps, IMO. Or at least the heads were.

That might not be a bad idea, and should be easy enough.

Also look for the Tech 21 Trademark 10 or 30, which look really cool and understated, too.

I was also going to suggest this!

They have a boutique look that would fit nicely into any living space.

While the TM10 only has an 8" speaker, I've read that the TM10 are more sought after for having mojo that TM30 does not. For the purpose of a bedroom amp I don't think 8" speaker is that much worse than a 10". Easier to get the speaker moving at low volume. Smaller enclosure makes it easier to move around and looks cuter.

I wish bought a TM10 when I first started playing, I got a Peavey Rage 158 instead.

I would love a 100w 1x12 Katana as a grab-n-go amp.

Could just get a Katana Head and use the internal speaker for practice, jamming, recording etc. They weigh about as much as an average practice amp.

If you're heading out, could take the head and plug it into a proper cabinet for rehearsal and gigging. Most venues around here have their owns cabs on hand. Though, out in the sticks maybe not.

I own a TM60, and it is fantastic. I had a TM10 for quite awhile, too, but used the 60 more.

i really liked those tm10, didnt like the big ones as much, but they are much more practical

Well, the TM60 is a very different amp. While the TM30 is a bigger version of the TM10, the TM60 and TM120 were 2 channel amps that didn't have the selector switch tone stacks. They were more like classic 2 channel amps. The clean channel was very Fendery, like a Deluxe with more headroom...perfect with pedals.
