Thanks to T4Days and the Drizzle king!

This is just a straight rythm track with bass, three guitars, and a drum loop. It was done on my laptop with Ableton Live software. Let me know what you think.

Pay attention to the way the rhythm is after the 3:00 mark. I,m thinking of starting the song with this part.

lol no it doesn't suck, you had some good riffs in there, I dig the little fill thing towards the end, works great for the style

As far as criticisms it's a bit repetitive--I mean if it had vocals or a solid lead line with some diverse ideas it could work perfect; but on its own, as an instrumental piece, it lacks much movement. If you plan to keep it instrumental and you or someone's not gonna just shred dick on top of it, I'd pick maybe one part you plan to repeat once, maybe twice, and then write about 4 more riffs and a bunch of transitions.

It's a good start, just needs some more time put into it

Re: CHeck It Out!!!

That's cool, Wes. How did you record the bass?

It's sounds like a great idea to build from. Kinda like drew said, it could use parts separated a little bit and then some drum fills.

As it stands without vocals it's still a great pre-break or last call type of jam!

It's amazing you can do all that with a laptop!

Re: CHeck It Out!!!

I wouldn't mind re-doing a drum track for that. Not that there's anything wrong with what's going on, but personally it just sounds a little too ummmmm......machined and perfect.

DING DING DING! Jolly wins!!!!

The drum Track is actually a DigiTech pedal. I bought it back in 2000. It is a guitar effects pedal that has a rhythym trainer built in it.
The Ableton software that came with my interface only has 4 audio tracks allowed so I had to bounce tracks a lot. I used a '98 Precission bass through an accoustic bass amp with a 15" speaker mic'd with an SM57. One of the guitars was just straight into the board, another was my Dean played through my FMR212 with an SD Shapeshifter and a BOSS OD, and the other was through my FMR212 with an Echo Park and a Cry Baby wah. Other than the Dean, all of the Guitars were my MIM Telecaster.

Other than what I replied to Jolly, I used an on-board bass effect in the Ableton software called "EQ8". It just made the tone really deep and big sounding.
My daughter will be laying down vocals pretty soon and I'll do some leadwork on it. I'll post it on sound click and PM you when it's done. It's Christian so I won't post a link here.
I'm doing it all on the laptop but when I close a set, I move the entire file to an external hard drive.

Re: CHeck It Out!!!

can it do vst instruments? go get ez drummer from GC for $29 if it can. Much less machine like.

Re: CHeck It Out!!!

Pretty groovy.

For some reason it really reminds me of the Movie Heavy Metal...Or like it should be in the "Major Boobage" episode of south park.
