Hey everyone, my name is Paul Walsh and I've been sort of posting on and off here for a long time, but I always love listening to other peoples music when they post it. So in turn, it made me want to post some of my stuff.

I love bands like dream theater, system of a down, deftones, tool, opeth, any thing that keeps my intersest, and keeps me guessing, but most of all, I love music that is fun to listen to.

This soundclick account im starting will contain some songs but mostly ideas. I love making music, so i hope you enjoy listening to my music as much as I enjoy making it.

You have great technique and creativity! I liked "Sounds like desert" especially. Was this recorded with a POD? Or what?

Re: Check Out My Heavy Soundclick Music!

yeah really great stuff. My Fav.is "pencil shavings and tic tac dream".Really a little "dream theater" but still individual and really nice atmossphere there.i like to hear it as a whole song.!!!

Re: Check Out My Heavy Soundclick Music!

thanks for the comments guys, all of these recordings were directly from the preamp of my fender stage 1600, i just unplug the speakers, mix using the sound from my headphones, and i apply all effects after the fact. any one else? opinions are always welcome, and appruciated.

Re: Check Out My Heavy Soundclick Music!

Okay, first: You ROCK!

Great leads and nice chops... I've not heard many people use wah that effectively. I could definitely hear the Dream Theater & some Opeth in there too!

My only suggestion would be to watch out overusing two-chord progressions. I think I noticed this only because I have a tendency to do it myself. I basically mean using a bunch of chord progressions that keep alternating between two tonal centers (even with the riffage between). The last tune "Rough One" used less two-chord progressions & sounded a bit more sophisticated as a result--I especially liked the repeating section (call it a chorus?).

& this is just what I noticed listening to 15 minutes-worth of your music, so take it as a grain of salt...

AGAIN--- You ROCK!!! I wish I could do 1/10th of that with a wah pedal, let alone some of those lead lines!

Rough One
A basic guitar instrumental song i wrote back in grade 9, re-recorded.

...are you serious? Damn, keep it up, how old are you now?

going deeper - on that track, I really like the end with the 'mr. bungle' breakdown - pretty heavy and weird (cool)

what did you use for the Bass - do you own a bass, and how did you record it?
