made by a local luthier here in Manitoba, Canada. i'm not really into teles and bigsbys but i actually like the look of this one. i'ved seen it in person on the store and it looks gorgeous though i never had the chance to try it out.

Holy Shnike batman!

If you get the funds, GET THAT GUITAR! NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

That is a be-u-u-uuuty!

Re: check out this tele.

The maple board + mahogany neck seems interesting, never seen it before. Neck pickup cover looks very :cool2:, like a radiator grille.

Re: check out this tele.

WOW! That is sweet. It's even got the control plate "reversed" (aka: the way it should be).

Re: check out this tele.

Love the headstock and the reversed control plate. Don't particularly care for the mahogany top. The Bigsby looks cool, but I personally don't care much for them on my guitars.

Re: check out this tele.

Not for me either, I'm afraid. That guitar looks nicely made but the luthier seems to have tried to cram too many ideas into one guitar.

On a Tele, I like to have space in which to flail about. I would find having a Bigsby vibrato arm between my hand and the selector switch off-putting. Also, for some reason, I find it easier to do the Speedy West / Roy Buchanan simultaneous volume and tone swell trick with the control plate the "normal" way around.

Re: check out this tele.

In my opinion, the luthier has used the WRONG Bigsby bridge/tailpiece. A Tele-specific variant exists. The arm on that variant would have been better positioned relative to the controls - whichever way around the plate is mounted.

To be honest, I would not want a Bigsby on a Tele to begin with. The same guitar with B and G Palm Pedals on it , however, might be a different story.

There is nothing special about the bigsby tele kit. It is their standard B5 vibrato, a jazzmaster bridge, and a special cover plate. If the tele kit was used the arm would be in the same position relative to the controls. I have the tele kit on my esquire build and the arm position is identical.

Re: check out this tele.

It's good to see another Manitoban on this forum. I can't say I'm a fan of that guitar at all though. It just seems like it has an identity crisis, there's nothing typical about it but it doesn't really seem all that unique either, rather a mishmash of ideas without a common theme. I won't go in to every little detail though.

I am curious how the maple board on a mahogany neck sounds.
