check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

Re: check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

I like Immortal. When I want grim and frostbitten metal that's done well and not laughable, one of their last 3 CDs is perfect.

Re: check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

i think it's really funny that you guys are all "Oh well it's not like anybody actually uses big stacks of amps anymore anyway."

Jucifer, SUNNO))), Boris, Torche, High On Fire and Zoroaster are just six of the bands in the modern heavy scene stacking up walls of amps and using them to their full capabilities at every ****ing show.

You don't have to believe me but it sure wasn't the bar's ****ty house PA making my hair and clothes blow back like a gust of wind was hitting my face every time their guitarists struck a chord.

If you have an amp on stage and you're not using it, you might as well put a cucumber in your pants because you're ****ing fake and lame.

I'm not saying that nobody uses real stacks anymore. I sure as hell do. It's just that a wall of stacks LOOKS so damn cool, and gives off a vibe, along with filling the space on stage.

It's rock and roll, man. Some of us had our balls make it out of the 90's alive, and aren't afraid to let them swing. :naughty:

Re: check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

One last thought.. If using a faux wall like this, Id suggest using a real set of empty cabs on the ends so that folks in the wings cant tell.

Not everybody has the ability to haul around that many full sized cabs. I see your point, though.

Re: check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

^ hah, yeah, not everybody does, but ****ing IMMORTAL? They should have a full stack or three.

Re: check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

I think it would be funny to go all Spinal Tap-ish, and bring out framed screens covered with a collage of every classic amp! LOL

that'd be awesome. or make huge framed stacks of brands that were only small combos, like pignose and gorilla.

Amen to that! Up until last summer I often hauled both Marshall 4X12 cabs to many gigs. Even if I didn't use both -- so what? Looked *****in! That's what rock shows are about!

That would be funny, to have one of those pictures where the towering piles of Pignoses stretch off into infinity :)

That gives me an idea. I love my Pignose. I'd only need a few hundred more of them. I might just be crazy enough to do it!

Or maybe not...

Re: check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

I said this last time this was posted:

They're putting on a show. Part of putting on a show is having cool visuals, and fewer things look cooler at a rock concert than a wall of full stacks. Since that many amps would be completely unmanageable both sonically and logistically, this approach is the way to go.
Exactly!! Whining and complaining about the fake stacks is like someone goinng off on Roger Waters for not actually using huge concrete blocks for his The Wall tour.

Re: check out this wall of engls (fake stack content)

Some of the defense posts are even funnier than the picture. They aren't being payed out because they're Immortal... It's a funny picture.

No it's not. Nobody thinks Pink Floyd use real blocks while looking at the stacks might lead everybody to think that they are actually using the amp.

The first one is like watching CGI effects in a movie and the second one is like sticking a Gibson decal on the headstock of your Epiphone.
