Check this out. He is only 9.

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

Look, if you want to discuss me why dont we start new thread. Is that kind of brotherhood i am facing with?

It is easy to say such words, because you dont have to answer for them...No responsibility at all.
"I hate to use the word hypocrite, but if the shoe fits..." - word hypocrite you hate to use, Dumbass. No reason - because you didnt understand whats all about...And started talking...."If you knew he was being sarcastic, then why did you give him a lecture and call him a has-been? eh?" Idiot. I used qoutes from previos thread.

Since when is the word 'dumbass' a proper noun?

That whole hypocrite piece is a figure of speech, not to be taken literally. I actually like the word hypocrite, and finds its way into many walks of life.

You used quotes directed from someone that you pissed off in that, so naturally, they came off a bit more abrasive than the ones he used against you. That's all I'm saying.

And this 'brotherhood' you speak of... Since when do brothers tell eachother that their technique sucks? Admit it, if someone came up to you and said "You're picking sucks," you'd be offended. If the same person came up and said "You're overall playing is good, but your picking hand could use some work," they'd be conveying the same exact message in a much more brotherly fashion.

I'm done with you, this is my last post on this topic. I think I maybe have one other person on my block list, and you've just joined them.

Yet Another thread gone wrong by none other than Mr.D.

And that's the end of that chapter...

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

Pretty impressive kid! I started playing around 9 or 10 years old, and if I saw this kid at that age, I would have fainted into the nearest chair. Besides all the bickering on this thread, who can raise their hand and say "Yes, at 9 years old I could blow that kid into the weeds?"

That's what I thought.

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

To get back on track, I can appreciate the time and discipline invested in this kids development... Yeah, I'll say it, he has some speed that isnt in my bag o' tricks! However, that really gets boring very quickly.... Look at the kids face in some parts... He is just looking around with no emotion into whats playing... kinda like "I have done this 1000 times, I hope dad lets my play the PS2 after this!"

I get the sense that this kid was pushed for speed by his dad, and hope that along the way he gets to learn to hear music and feel it.... Maybe he could use some of the less is more approach now so that EVERY note has to count.... Then blend the 2?

Oh well, that is my 2 cents... I guess I should get off the forum and go practice... at 30 years of age, that kid kinda has a leg up on me!!!!

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

After watching it a few times, I can see that RGN is right. His licks are the same ones on the two first Paul Gilbert videos. He basically sat in his room, with his dad's coaching, and learned those tapes, as if it were homework! I'll give him props.....Paul Gilbert at 9 years old is nothing short of amazing. I can't criticize him at all, because he's got an entire lifetime to go upwards from THAT point! He's gonna be terrifying when he's 28!
He probably won't even be the same player at all.....he'll probably be like Shawn Lane!

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

All I can say is: holy sh*t!!!!! I am extremely impressed. Whether or not he was practicing someone else's licks, just executing something that nuts well earns my respect. The kid is 9 YEARS OLD, and man can that kid shred. I was sitting in my chair going "YEAH!, GO LITTLE GUY!" :D.

It did get boring, but I loved just seeing someone so young fly on that fretboard. He could give me and just about everyone I know personally a run in the speed department. For any age, that's not bad... but for 9 years old, that's SOMETHING...

The kid's good but I got bored about half way through the vid and stopped it.
+1

I kind of wonder if he can improvise at all, or if he can only listen, practice and reproduce what he learns. Good chops for sure, but the "music" aspect is phenomenally uninspiring.

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

He's got the chops and he will get the "feel" soon enough. Hope he'll become a Jason Becker at 16.

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

Huh, imagine this kid learning some jazz theory and picking up a jazz box. Now that'd be killer... :)

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

careful of the meaning in "sarcasm" and "hipocrism",they can lead to false argument.

and do know when suffering from pure jealousy.
the kid has perfect chops.the playing was not meant for feeling OBVIOUSLY.
Only paul gilbert himself could a had the true feeling for his own piece.and even if he was 9,i doubt it very much he could do it flawlessly with both technique and feeling,at leat at age 9.

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

Just because someone is good at something doesn't mean all people desire that skill and want it - and hence are jealous.

I am jealous, but thats because I want speed. Not everyone does.

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

playing with marbles? and playing piano... i only picked the guitar up a year and a bit ago :|. however i dont think this kid would understand style at 9, time will tell as to his ability

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

Born to Shred was a user who used to post here regularly. Where are you, mate!?

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

Cool, now get him to play me a song..

Huge talent, ability and potential, but the more i see it the more i see a 'robot', they could probably teach a monkey to play that with enough time and effort, however if the kid learns to write music and develops his own feel and style, he has the potential to blow everyone away.

Oh and Mr.D, maybe you and the people who wish to argue with you could do it through PM's? I am getting very bored and annoyed at seeing good threads go downhill.

Re: Check this out. He is only 9.

For a 9 year, old it's amazing. His speed is amazing for any age. Style and creativity are lacking, but that may come with time. I wonder though if hes really nine after all they said Micheal Jackson was nine when he was really 11 or 12. But if he keeps at it he could be an insane guitarist by the time hes 18.
