Cheesy Velho Nova

Means Old Nova. (in retrospect I should have wrote "Bossa Velho... Cause the Girl from Ipanema is an old song.

First recording here. Only took me 2 years. using Microsoft Sound Recorder on a crappy laptop with an even crappier mic, with a semi crappy but usable Takamine acoustic (broken string on my good takamine, and it's too late to go out and find a replacement).

I've been liking Antonio Carlos Jobim alot, so I decided to pick his easiest, cheesiest song to learn before I tried to delve off and create my own Bossa... :D I really like all the crazy chords that are used in Bossa nova, all the 7+/9s, major sevenths, sixths etc...

I used to be just a major, minor, seventh kinda guy :D

Anyways, here's the girl from Ipanema, Slade style. I tried to sing. It kind of fell apart at the last verse, but I kind of caught it I think  Tell me what you think, I only seem to know deaf people so I need to know how much my singing/playing sucks. I think I at least got the refrain to kind of not suck, but I reallize the transition is abrupt...

Re: Cheesy Velho Nova

This is good. I love the chords used in bossa nova music. So dark and yet sexy.

Re: Cheesy Velho Nova

thanks for the feedback :D Might even impose more on you now.

Yeah. Stuffing up is a problem for me. Frustrates me to no end, but every once in a while I can almost get through a song :D
