Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

I think we're getting carried away with ethics. The dude just wants a guitar to rock out with. He's not trying to sell or flip it to an unsuspecting buyer.

I doubt that changes what the law says, and it doesn’t change my mind. There other guitars available. Get a Chinese guitar that doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

If you do a custom build

You can get stainless frets and graphite stiffening rods
They have those in China and know what they are for

It's really difficult to check to see if they did install them though
You'll have to find a company that has been in business for a while
That you can trust

The builder for my Ehdwuld Signature guitar
Got closed during my build for copyright infringement
And came back under a new name

He's a bit shady

The second builder for the ERI guitar
Gave me pictures throughout the build
He claimed a fire inspection in the midst of the build that delayed the progress

Second guy was much more trustworthy

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

Giannini guitars are made in Brazil, not China. Some of them are very good.
For once, you're wrong. Some of the stuff is from Brazil. But my electric guitar was made in China. Just like everything else, they outsourced to China

Here's the Chibson I owned for about 16 hours... It was incredible looking, played very well, and even sounded good. But it was fake as a three dollar bill.

Mr. Edwuhld does present a very appealing argument....

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

And yes - this thread has brought out some issues!

I was asking about Quality, incidentally.

The wood is good
Quality is hit and miss
The hardware is mostly junk
The fretwork is good in my experience
The ERI guitar is surprisingly light for a mahogany body and neck

Scale your expectations back to the price level
And it should be a good experience

I haven't had any of the misaligned holes or such
No major issues

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

I guess they start getting more ambitious with the pricing when it's a 'custom' job though?

Grote has some decent LP copies & they're cheap! (250-300)

If they're anything like mine quality/build wise (no reason they should'nt be) ..they're probably excellent :bigthumb:

Check out seller "grote-guitar" on ebay...

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

In my case
I never paid more than $300 on any custom
There was a $25 fee.for ebony rather than rosewood

The cutouts, control layouts, headstock logos, stainless frets, etc were all included

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

Not a political statement by any means. And I have no clue of the full ins and outs, just a thought that's all.
Keep in mind the various trade laws and tariffs that may or may not becoming into play or already have before ordering.

Re: Chibsun from China - What Choo say?

I noticed Free Shipping has curtailed a lot
And the 18 buck shipping has become 56 dollar
