I am making a new pickguard for my 11- slide guitar (standard E / Open G) with extended nut.
It is a 1976 Gibson S-1. I probably won't find a similar Chicken head pickup selector and a similar toggle switch.
First I thought taking both of them on the new pickguard, but it would be cool to keep two different pickguards without looting the old one
With this guitar Gibson intended to foray into Fender territory with an original electronic designed by Bill Lawrence... My new pickguard (the blue one) will go further into this direction as I will use real strat pickups.
When I bought it in San Francisco in 1988 the stock bridge pickup had alreeady been replaced by an old looking DMZ SD. So the pickguard had been cut.
I have got a brand new S-1 pickguard to have a single coil in the bridge again. I choosed the SD SSL-5 (I love PF).
I would like to retain the original Bill Lawrence electronics which gave five sounds in the 1976-1978 version (The latter version has more with a 5 position chicken head).
Toggle up : Chicken head 1 : neck + middle
Toggle up : Chicken head 2 : middle + bridge (this is what I mostly use)
Toggle up : Chicken head 3 : All three pickups
Toggle up : Chicken head 4 : neck + bridge out of phase
Toggle up : Bridge only (Chicken head off)
I would really like to add to this system a "neck alone" position, specifically for E-Bow (the best dynamic control with an E-Bow is with a neck pup. I would never use the bridge pup for E-Bow)
Maybe I could use two 3-way switches ?
Something like an Fender Electric XII 4-way pickup selector (neck / both parallel / both series / bridge) connected to a LP-toggle could do all I need except the three pickups together.
Any ideas ?
