Chillin with the Celtic

Finally got my new amp into a proper basement (lol) and am getting a chance to put it through its paces. I picked up a Celtic Aeden from Scott F and boy is it cool. Master volume, single channel hi/lo inputs and a pair of cathode biased EL34s. He says the front end is something like a Matchless Lightening. Master/cut (presence)/bass/treble/volume is all it has but thats all it needs! The mids move around depending on the bass and treble settings and the tone controls are extremely interactive.

The hi input with the volume up and master down is wicked and there is more than enough gain to get most jobs done. A little goose from a TS-9 type thing and the amp gets wicked.

I just finished playing through the lo input with the master dimed and the volume down and the cleans are chimey, simply to die for. very voxy to say the least. Hit it with a couple of pedals and I can get most any tone I like.

I am totally stoked!

More w/pics to come!!!

Robert is probably playing a nice guitar with that amp… :scratchch

Re: Chillin with the Celtic

I am. Its a blue Epi with a C5/PGn combo. I just finished setting it up today with a fresh set of GHS Boomers 10-46. I was having trouble intonating the bridge until I realized someone had put the bridge on backwards.

Plays like a dream now.

Thanks again Larry!

Re: Chillin with the Celtic

The amp is a killer. Chimey cleans with tons of overtones and harmonic content. Easily the best sounding amp I have ever owned or played and I've played on more than a few and owned some keepers. More gain than my old JCM 800 and far better cleans than my old Mesa rack.

Phenominal.

Re: Chillin with the Celtic

Awesome. It makes me smile seeing that you have recouped some things that you lost.

Re: Chillin with the Celtic

cool bro! glad you got a decent rig again. amp looks sweet!!

Re: Chillin with the Celtic

That amp looks awesome. If I lived in the States I'd deffo be after buying a Celtic!

Re: Chillin with the Celtic

Thanks guys. Kevlar3000 posted some videos of this amp on youtube. I linked them from my site. Robert put up with the old "wallace" front plate, so it's a true one of a kind. Thank you for the kind comments Bob.

And not even close to how much I dig that amp or how absolutely cool it sounds, let alone the wide range of tones I get out of it.

The speaker is something Lastwinj had laying around, I forget the name. He said it was crap but it sounds ok. I found a used 212 and 412 Peavey cab at a local GC, both for $149. I'll probably pick one of them up saturday and then start looking for some V30s and greenbacks.

Re: Chillin with the Celtic

That old man can make some nice looking amps.

+3

#007 Edana

#??? Austin (Scott - Can you fill in the serial number)

They are also very nice tone machines… Keep up the great work Scott!
