Chinese Mod. Player neck on MIM body, what should I expect?

So I've got a MP neck that is beautiful & straight as an arrow & I want to put on my old Mexician body? I was wondering if anyone has ever tried it before? I know that it can be done but it's going to take some work? If anyone knows what kinda issues I'm going to run into please chime in...

Re: Chinese Mod. Player neck on MIM body, what should I expect?

Get out the ol' six inch steel rule and measure the width and depth of the MIC neck. Measure the width of the MIM neck pocket. Also, check the alignment of the screw holes through the two pieces of wood. (The fact that two FMIC product components ought to line up with each other is no guarantee that they will.)

If the neck has a fretboard overhang for a twenty second fret, your choices are;
1) Hope that the body has an over-sized neck pickup cavity.
2) Remove material from the pickguard to ease fitting around the neck heel.
3) Go "Esquire". One pickup, no aperture cut through the 'guard. (Fit once then leave alone.)

No lip on this one, I've run into that prob. retrofitted a MIK neck, PIA but it worked out? my calipers craped the bed but just using a tape measure they look like they are the same size? I highly doubt I'm going to be lucky enough for a simple swap, I'll probably be drilling new holes @ best!

I put an MIM Fender neck on my MIJ Squier body works great. Hopefully you can get lucky as well.
