Re: Chinese Mod. Player neck on MIM body, what should I expect?
Get out the ol' six inch steel rule and measure the width and depth of the MIC neck. Measure the width of the MIM neck pocket. Also, check the alignment of the screw holes through the two pieces of wood. (The fact that two FMIC product components ought to line up with each other is no guarantee that they will.)
If the neck has a fretboard overhang for a twenty second fret, your choices are;
1) Hope that the body has an over-sized neck pickup cavity.
2) Remove material from the pickguard to ease fitting around the neck heel.
3) Go "Esquire". One pickup, no aperture cut through the 'guard. (Fit once then leave alone.)
