Choosing the pickup selector switch order?

I've got an Esquire type guitar (actually, an Avril Lavigne signature Squier - don't laugh, I got it cheap and it's perfectly playable which is all I ask of a guitar) and I'm looking at sticking a new pickup in it and changing its current switch wiring (which is split/series/split). Having a little trouble working out how to wire up the 3-way pickup selector switch how I want it to be though. Actually, I don't even know if one of the things I want is possible...

What I want is basically this but with the split and parallel options switched around. So when the switch is pointing what I call backwards (south? Towards the jack, away from the neck) the pickup will be in full series mode, when the switch is in the middle position the pickup is wired parallel and when the switch is pointing forwards (north? Towards the neck of the guitar) it is split using the forward (north? furthest from the bridge) coil.

So, how do I switch the parallel and split options around? To be clear, we're talking about a standard Fender Telecaster 3-way switch here (not the Squier one, if that matters).

Or, one thing I was wondering is if it is possible to instead of going series/parallel/split if it could be made to go series/parallel/coils out of phase. Most of my guitars have the neck and bridge pickups wired out of phase, it's a tone I use a lot, can this be done to a single humbucker (the two coils out of phase) along with series and parallel options on the one switch?

Re: Choosing the pickup selector switch order?

The first option is easy.

If we label the terminals:

1 5
2 6
3 7
4 8

(imagine they're staggered like a real switch)

On the diagram you provided, instead of connecting 8 to 7, connect 8 to 6. That's it.

For out of phase, I don't think you can do it with a standard 3-way switch. If I were you, I'd wire it with a push-pull. I can draw you a full diagram if you like.

Re: Choosing the pickup selector switch order?

Nah 's okay, I'm irrationally against push-pull switches. I'll leave it as a split. Thanks, that was much simpler than I was expecting.

Re: Choosing the pickup selector switch order?

Easier option - reverse the orientation of the switch.

That wouldn't do exactly what the OP wants, as he wants parallel on the middle position of the switch and series and split on the outside positions.
