hello to all of you. Finally after a long time I have the money for a new set of pickups. So I have 4 pickup options:

1. Nazgul/ Sentient

2. Custom sh5/ 59 neck

3. Lace sensor Nitro Hemis

4. Dimarzio D activators set

Keep in mind that I play mostly metal, but Im looking for a nice rhythm tone and lead. My influences are As I Lay Dying, Metallica, Trivium, Queens of the Stone Age ( yes I know, its not metal, but they are super awesome), architects, Slipknot... Also, I almost for got it, My guitar is a Schecter C1 platinum, mahogany body, and rosewood fingerboard, it has EMG 81/85 in it.

Thanks to all.

2 is perfect for QOTSA. I understand that’s a pickup combination Homme has used. I feel like it could be used for the other bands with the right setup.

Yes, it could work well. I was thinking really hard for those pickups, but Im worried that could no cover metal too well, I have a Band and soon I going to record some songs.

Re: Choosing the right Pickup!!!!

First try the 85 in the bridge and 81 in the neck. Otherwise, I'd go with the DActivators.

Re: Choosing the right Pickup!!!!

Old Metallica sounds like the Duncan Distortions and Invaders their actual guitars ran with pre-EMG endorsement... some of which they still seem to use back behind the fog of war when in the studio

Just fyi

If you're young and cash-strapped, you might also look into just throwing a Duncan Designed hb108 off ebay into the bridge, it's essentially an Invader-ized Duncan Distortion

Half the bands you listed play EMGs. What is it that you don't like about them? Have you tried swapping the 85/81 positions?

Re: Choosing the right Pickup!!!!

Have you tried the EMG's on 18 volts? 5 bucks for another battery clip and battery are worth it before you gut the electronics in your guitar to put passives in it.

Pro tip, IF you do decide to go to passive pickups many schecters come without ground wires to the bridge, You will need to add one. But not such a big deal as you will need to gut all the pots anyways.

the main reason is that I feel the tone of the EMG'S is stale, I love the my EMG´S dont get me wrong, they are tight, crunchy, heavy, they have balls to it, but the dynamics, the possibilites to have a different sound is a somewhat limited. At leats thats my experience
