I love my Analogman Chorus... It sure is a bit pricey, but nothing else sounds like it.

One that I like is the dod fx65 stereo chorus. Has speed, depth and delay time knobs. Sounds really good and I actually ditched a boss ce-2 in favor of it. I can send it to you to try out if you pay return shipping after a week or two. They can be found for $35 to $60 used. I don't want to sell mine at all, but don't mind letting you try it.

I am going to tryout an old mxr stereo chorus this coming weekend as well. I only use these when playing alone and making ambient 'loops' with delay lol... But hording pedals is fun.

I have two choruses on my board. I have an old DOD Mini-chorus that I love for widening. For my go-to chorus I have a MOOG Moogerfooger. Best damn chorus I have ever played through. But you did say bang for your buck and the Moogerfooger is a bit pricey, but worth every penny.

Looking to buy a Moen Holy Choir myself. Cheap analog chorus that sounds pretty awesome..nice & deep & shimmery!

Would you consider something like a Fulltone MDV-II ? It has vibe and chorus modes, is analog and the treadle can adjust the speed. It has a very rich and gritty chorus sound to my ears. Also gives a little high boost. It is not a conventional chorus but since you mentioned something more like a vibe, I thought of this pedal. I have one and I really like it.

Look for a Visual Sound Liquid Chorus. If it was to get a chorus, it would be that one. They used the BBD chips and IIRC, RG (the man who designed it) said it is based off the CE-1 or 2. A killer chorus, IMO.

I've got the H2O, and it's a great pedal. I really like both halves, and the two sounds pair together beautifully. I was actually surprised at just how good the delay is on it, too. In fact, I find myself choosing that over the Carbon Copy I have next to it quite often. But the chorus is beautiful, full, and lush. The only problem is when I mute the guitar, I still get a tiny bit of bleed-through chorusing of the noise. It's certainly not noticeable at stage volumes, but I suppose it could be a problem for recording.

I just got a Mooer I like it nicer then my Jap CE-3 never owned a CE-2 but can get Smiths chorusy tone.

XXXplorer: thank you for your kind offer. I am actually quite familiar with the old early 80s DOD stuff, and owned both the FX60 and the 65 back when they were new they were my first two chorus pedals IIRC.

I'd just hunt down an old Boss, or maybe a Voodoo Labs. Don't know if that will do it range wise for you.

I say "bah" to analog chorus. To much good/great digital out there. Sticking with My CF-7 Chorus factory.

Also try the Univibe I actually like the chorus on it a lot more than I like the vibrato. The chorus is the only reason I kept the pedal.

I like my mooer pitchbox, have not tried their chorus yet, but there is hardly any damage when you get one of these mooer pedals. I'm pretty enthousiastic about the price/quality of the mooer's. Play one if you have the chance!

surprised no one has mentioned the Radial Vienna chorus, sits around $150 and a fantastic sounding pedal, and has A and B settings, so you can have your fast and slow without moving knobs. Got them in the store and I was blown away...not to mention gone before I could make it my own.

No one has mentioned strymon. Its really nice sounding and flexible, small footprint but pricey if you buy new!
Diamond is another really good one - does some light phasing too. Watch out for the polarity on the thing.
My favorite is a Leslie sim - the Neo Ventilator.

The Fulltone Choralflange and Boss Ce-2 are also nice.

Have you any experience with that newer blue box analog from MXR? The one with the tone controls?

I do. If I hadn't wound up with a CE-2 (got it for a steal on eBay) I would have picked up the MXR Analog Chorus. Very nice warm effect, and the five knobs give you lots of possibilities and allow it to work with almost any rig.

The Malekko one sounds really excellent in demos but I've never played through one in the wild.

The Ibanez Bi-Mode Chorus is the only chorus I've ever really liked, I never even would have bought a chorus before I messed with it.
