Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

I think the Hardwire CR-7 is great. Multiple voices, true bypass, with full control (level, rate, modulation) on settings. For a bit less I'd also check out the TC electronic corona.

I've got an analog MIJ CH-1 Super chorus from the 80's. It cost me 40 bones and it gets the job done pretty well!!

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

My personal fav from back in the 80's and still on my board after all these years, I can't use any other!

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

My personal choice is a CE2/CE3 or a Fulltone Choralflange. The Danalectro cool cat chorus from back in the day was nice to but the enclosure was a pain in the ass to mount on a board. The old Arion Chorus was great but I can;t bring myself to pay the asking price for those things today.

I have a Voodoo lab analog chorus as well but I don't care for it. It does a decent leslie sound but overall it sounds more like a phaser than chorus to me

Guys, this guy said he wanted analog, so no strymon, no tc electronic (Which I love BTW), Hardwire (although their circuit is partly analog chorus! Yet not a full analog only circuit), etc.

Made a choice yet?

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

Have any of you guys tried the Moogerfooger? Or am I the only one that is in love with that pedal.

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

No decisions yet. Just waiting to find something at the right price...mooer,mxr, melekko, retrosonic, is the way I am leaning. Do not really want to get an old ce2..love the sound, but too much of a tone suck when off, noisy, and I dont do mods myself,.so it would not be economical for me.

Speaking of mods...Interestingly enough I live in the next town over from Analogman. My wife's office is real close to his addy.i should go over ther for ****s and giggles. Maybe he can do something to my badass78 to thicken it up and smooth out the strident bass and high mids,so I do not have to replace the whole thing.

I had one of those old 80s pink box Ibbys at one time too. Great sound, but same issues as the ce2.

I don't know how it would go for walk-in business, but all my dealings with Mike have been very positive. I have purchased probably eight pedals from him since 2003.

The MXR blue analog chorus has changed my life. Now I run stereo amps all the time:

And Aceman has a point - analog chorus is great until it gets gritty. I find I can't use the full range unless I want cheese.

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

I have an Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine Chorus you could "check out" for cheeps! :wall:

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

I have a Boss CE-3 on my board at the moment, but I think my favorite is the DOD FX-65. And you can find them CHEAP. Definitely worth a look.

I also like the Digitech Chorus and the Hardwire for their versatility. The BBE Mindbender has a cool vibe...and speaking of vibes, check out their Soul Vibe.

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

What a beauty .... I'd use that for a night light after the gig!

It's not really as bright as it looks in the picture, but if ever an amp had too much blue bling, it's the TM-18. I soooo want to re-cab that thing to make it look retro. I would even consider loading it into an ammo box, except that it gets hot enough to fry bacon on.

Back OT, a chorus with stereo outputs into two different amps is da bomb. Half the time I use the MXR as a fancy Y cable. I'd avoid any chorus that only has a mono output for that reason.

Used to have this pedal...great chorus. Paid $20 for it and eventually traded it for a 4peice drum shell pack. Just a heap Westbury kit but a sweet deal nonetheless.

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

I have over the years used a bunch of different chorus units Bosses, Ibanezes , DODs, Line 6's TC electronics you name it I have tried one at some point. My all time favorite chorus is a cheap Rocktron Deep Blue. I have one on all 3 of my pedal boards and will use no other chorus.

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

I have this old school Peavey Companded Chorus CMC-1 pedal its ultra solid and sounds sexual.
