Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

I have an Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine Chorus you could "check out" for cheeps! :wall:

I listened to all the quality clips I could find of this pedal, and it seems to do everything I do not want or need, lol. Maybe that chorus ensemble sound can be found with that kind of versatility, and tweakability, but I sure never heard it. Sounds more like a small clone on steroids...almost digital with the kind of clarity it has.

The Danalectro cool cat chorus from back in the day was nice to but the enclosure was a pain in the ass to mount on a board.

Those were great, I still kick myself in the ass for selling mine.

Had a couple but dumped them after picking up the Rocktron Deep Blue. the 18 volt set up on the Cool Cat was a PITA and the Rocktrons just flat sound better.

My personal fav from back in the 80's and still on my board after all these years, I can't use any other!

Thank you saladin & king izzo))) for your Ibanez chorus props! Can't remember when I first got it or if I've ever owned another. Every time I consider getting a different chorus I just kick it on and remember I don't need a different pedal. Does any chorus sound I need and then some. Hell, the switch even still works after years of abuse. I've always thought the Ibby 10 series pedals don't get the props they deserve.

Wish mine still looked like yours (AND THE BOX AND PAPERWORK!?!?!?) saladin. Mine looks like I misplaced my hammer during home renovation day! :smack:

You know - I was thinking about this. To me, here is the thing about an analog model; It's probably gonna have just one tone with limited modification factors. The challenge is finding the one chorus tone that YOU dig.

Only way to do that is try some and let YOUR ears decide.

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

Absolutely Ace. Chorus pedals vary as much as OD pedals. I know what I like based on having some classic and not so classic units. Not looking for 12 different flavors, otherwise I would go the modelling route.

I have narrowed it down to the "analog roland sound", because I loved my old JC amps, and my CE2. now I have to weigh price aand desired features in a modern simulacrum. I can wait on this as it is not crucial to have.

Re: Chorus...analog...who has got the best bang for the buck?

Well, since you've narrowed it down, keep that VS Liquid Chorus in mind.
