Is it just me or….

How many female signature models as there been at Fender over the last few years ? Bonnie Raith, Avril Lavigne , Courtney Love (*belch*)
…. and that bass playing hottie whoas a Squier model ? I think thats about it…. now I wondered…. how about a Chrissie Hynde Tele ?!

I'd buy that off the bat !

She's a rock and roll goddess , Hall of fame inductee, amazing front woman …..

Wrote Fender about…… ridiculous you might say…. but what if ?!

There's been some really stupid artist model at Fender recently ( Pete Wentz ?! )…. why not Chrissie a go !

Yours truly,

J

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

She's great. I don't know that her Tele in particular made the key sounds of that band.

I'd like a Bonnie Raitt Strat though. Tone for years.

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

The Tele is key to the Pretenders sound….

take a peek at it for fun … you'll be surprised … The Pretenders is an amazing under-rated rock band !

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

she seems to me like the type of person that would turn it down if she were approached about it.

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

Look on the bright side: I think Taylor Momsen might go for it.

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

I saw them on Lilith Fair and kept falling asleep.

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

"Belching" and Courtney aside ;) - technically, the Squier Vista Venus wasn't "officially" a Signature Model and they're actually really cool IMHO and nice playing guitars with some great features in the Mercury Guitars/Rickenbacker resemblance is different.

1998 Squier Venus - really like it for an inexpensive unusual guitar, plus, it's got a GREAT feeling and playing Neck. It's got a Seymour Duncan APS-1 Neck/Pearly Gates Trembucker Set, String Thru Body and TOM, set up with .12-.52 Strings. I'm in the "love it" category. Great Bang for the Buck acquisition.

I have liked practically every sig built for women artists now that I think about it, when it's not all girlied up. The grace potter one, theres a halestorm one, right? The heart nighthawk...
They look good. They have a modest modification to make them really nice.
For the record the derek trucks one with the fakey vibrola chrome bugs me that it stops half an inch from the tailpiece.

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

It ought to be possible for any CH devotee to arrive at a reasonable approximation of her guitar by lightly modifying a Fender AVRI model.

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

Yup….most probably !

But the world still needs more Female signature models…..

maybe not the world, but just me …. I wanna see more !

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

At first, I assumed we were just talking about the first one she was seen with with the sticker. But she's had a few over the years. Which specific Tele are we discussing?

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

Kind of like how there's no "James Jamerson P-Bass" sig model, both he and CH used the same guitars anybody else could buy, so it would only be putting a "name" on a totally stock guitar. Or something.

Re: Chrissie Hynde Telecaster

Well a lot of the times, even if they use stock instruments, the artists will go to the company or the company will approach them and they can take it in whatever direction they see fit, so it doesn't necessarily have to be based off of an existing instrument.

If the artist is dead like Jameson and the instrument is lost or unavailable then neither a collaboration nor a reproduction can be made. But even then, similar things have been done in the past under those premises like the voodoo strats and such.

Sounds like a great idea. I also propose a Susan Tedeschi tele model.
