UPS brought 3 boxes to my house today: a Heritage 535 "Special" from Wolfe Guitars and a 1985 Tokai "Jazz Sound" bass with a Fender "Sidekick Bass 30" amp of the same vintage. My cousin sent me the bass and amp for free
The Heritage 535 wasn't free, but it's the thing I'm most excited about! Old style burst finish (sample pic attached), cream bindings front & back, fingerboard & headstock bound too. Here's the rest:
Seymour Duncan “Antiquity” humbuckers
Bone nut (instead of Corian)
Sperzel tuners with faux ivory buttons
“select wood”
Inlaid logo (instead of silkscreened)
MOP fingerboard dots
figured maple pickguard
All I can say so far is "I am not worthy!" Everything about this guitar is so different from my Strats that I hardly know what to do with it, but the tone and sustain are awesome. The only guitar I've ever bought that was setup any better was my Taylor acoustic.
If any of y'all have some hints on how to get used to the inter-dependent volume controls, etc. on a dual humbucker guitar for someone who's only played Strats, I'd really appreciate it. Meanwhile, I'll just keep fooling around with it... and loving the full, warm tone. And did I mention sustain?
Please cut me some slack if I'm over-exicited - the past few months have been tough and I needed something fun to break out with.
Chip
P.S. Jay Wolfe couldn't have been better to deal with - I was really nervous about buying a guitar sight unseen, but won't worry at all when dealing with him in the future. Many thanks to y'all who recommended him.
