i just got a new chromatic tuner and im having trouble tuning my guitar to standard tuning eadgae. as you can tell i dont know much about scales what should i be tuning to for standard tuning?

Re: chromatic tuner help

Maybe you mistyped but standard tuning is E A D G B E.

Make sure you are only playing one string at a time keeping the others silent or the tuner will get confused.

Re: chromatic tuner help

Tune one string with the tuner, and then tune the rest by ear to get closer to ballpark. Then use the tuner for the fine-tuning.

Re: chromatic tuner help

I usually tune all six strings near to pitch but leave them a little flat. Then I tune (up) the E and the B with harmonics at the 12th fret, and tune the four fatter strings using the 7th fret harmonic. Of course, the notes will be different - that is, using the harmonic at the 7th fret the G is tuned to D, the D is tuned to A, the A is tuned to E, and the E is tuned to B.

Chords sound better for some reason, and the tuner doesn't freak out as much when you're using harmonics.
