Chrome P-Rails

Anyone have a clue if chrome P-Rails are in the works. I really want to drop a set in my Les Paul but not until I can get them in chrome. All the hardware on my LP is chrome and black just won't look right.

I am wanting the P-Rails along with a set of Push/Pull Superpots from RS Guitarworks. I can't wait!

Re: Chrome P-Rails

i'unno if they are going to put chrome into production, though i'm sure you could get those through the custom shop. they also come in creme and white btw.

Re: Chrome P-Rails

That's the only reason I haven't tried one in the neck of my Michael Kelly. I really like the look of nickle covers with the satin black finish I have now. I'm using a phat cat in the neck and I'm thinking a p-rail could only be better, but I want to keep nickle covered pups in this one.

Re: Chrome P-Rails

i dunno....would spraypainting it work? theres some good chromey looking paints out there

Re: Chrome P-Rails

I got an email back from Scott today. He stated that at the time they come in only black, white and cream. They may have them in chrome in another year. I told them to pencil me in for a set once they get it done. Sounds like there may be more demand for chrome/nickel than just me. Maybe they could shorten the eta of chrome.

For now I'll just stick with the stock pups and go with the Push/Pull CTS Superpots

Hurry up fellas, I can't wait to get this remodel done and it won't be complete untiul I get some chrome P-Rails...

Re: Chrome P-Rails

It's not like plastic, where once the molds are made the bobbins can be cast into different colors... they'll have to design and have P-Rails specific covers made after doing R&D on how the cover should be designed (cut out for rails, or not...), have someone make the covers, and get them plated. Perhaps once the P-Rails solidify themselves in the market SD will look into it.

If you were really that interested though, and aren't opposed to losing adjustability of the poles, holeless covers are available, and should fit over the bobbins. A real tinkerer could buy a holeless cover and at least drill the holes for the P90 pole pieces.

Re: Chrome P-Rails

I have been asking for this since before the P-Rails came out. My advice is to suck it up and go for tone before looks...

Re: Chrome P-Rails

Mr. Falbo answered this question last year in a thread like this. Quite a detailed response too. Use the Search feature, and you should be able to find it.

Re: Chrome P-Rails

I'm sure there's a metal worker that could make a set of covers if you were really that interested. I keep hearing about these p-rails. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm glad that SD is still making such cool pickups!
