Cicognani Brutus Live + Grote + Behringer G100 DI Box + AMT CN-1 = Jazzy Blues-Rock

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
Used the Behringer G100 DI box for this one - between the head & cab -> Line out to my AMT CN-1 Cab sim pedal -> Digital handheld recorder.

Drums From my Korg KR Mini DM. A little reverb in the loop (Cicognani Brutus Live 28Watt head - Crunch & Lead-1 channels) gain turned low for a change haha. Mixed with Audacity. No pre/post production.

Guitar's my Grote semi-hollow..

EDIT: Added some "Bass" (Guitar simulated/pitch shifted) with my Zoom G1Xon ..and it's up on youtube :bigthumb:

Cool, will check it out when I have a chance.

Re: Cicognani Brutus Live + Grote + Behringer G100 DI Box + AMT CN-1 = Jazzy Blues-Ro

Damn ..I actually thought this was one of my better ones :lmao:

Anyway..it's definitely the best I've ever managed sound/production-wise so far (not too shabby otherwise either lol..). I finally have a pretty professional sound going on a shoestring budget ..w/o a bass guitar or having to mic a thing!

Added some extra stuff (drum fills/crashes) and had it mastered for $5.00 at fiverr.com. Matrix Audio on there does a pretty good job for 5 bucks...highly recommended :bigthumb:

Ha! Forgot all about this one!
Will check it out this afternoon.

...and (mastered version) up on youtube :bigthumb:

Re: Cicognani Brutus Live + Grote + Behringer G100 DI Box + AMT CN-1 = Jazzy Blues-Ro

Kick has some nice weight to it. The rhythm guitars are ... totally you lol. REALLY like the gnarly lead tone; it sounds a lot like Power Windows era Lifeson,

Re: Cicognani Brutus Live + Grote + Behringer G100 DI Box + AMT CN-1 = Jazzy Blues-Ro

Yeah, the more punchy/more realistic drums from my Korg DM def make a difference to the overall mix. Also added a bit of reverb & compression from audacity to the raw (pitch shifted) 'Bass-simulated' guitar track from my Zoom G1Xon and I think that made it a bit more prominent/effective in the mix.

Regarding the lead tone ..thanks! I find the Crunch channel on my Brutus amp to be very Rush-like straight out of the box. The rhythm is just the same (practically) riff I used in the video below ..but slower and phrased a bit differently to fit :laugh2:

Re: Cicognani Brutus Live + Grote + Behringer G100 DI Box + AMT CN-1 = Jazzy Blues-Ro

I'm hearing a lag. Are you having latency issues?

Re: Cicognani Brutus Live + Grote + Behringer G100 DI Box + AMT CN-1 = Jazzy Blues-Ro

Nope...no latency issues. I just stomped on the looper a bit late..haha. Thought it sounded cool/quirky anyway so I let it be...

Re: Cicognani Brutus Live + Grote + Behringer G100 DI Box + AMT CN-1 = Jazzy Blues-Ro

Anyway....

Just popped these in yesterday...& man....they sound SWEET!

Now that's what I call a Fokin Grote!

They're a little less prominant in the mids & highs than the stock pup's (though I actually loved the bluesy honky-ness those pups had :laugh2:)

...so slightly rounder highs, more open in the mids..a bit better balanced & a tad more juicy & refined sounding overall :bigthumb:

Need to work a bit more with the height/balance etc..clips when I have them adjusted just right :D
