How should I go about fixing this? I know nothing of circuit boards...can I simply solder it down and make sure it comes out the bottom side?

BTW - this is the input to the amplifier. The three poles on the right have seperated from the board.

Help!

Re: Circuit Board Help!! (Something Snapped Off)

Since its broken off flush with the board, the best thing would be to get a new jack. If thats not a possibility, then you should get some small gauge solid wire(like a resistor leg) and solder one end to the jack and the other through the board and to the pad on the solder side. Also you should get some epoxy and glue the jack back down to the board. Otherwise it will break again.

Re: Circuit Board Help!! (Something Snapped Off)

Hey G- you will also have to desolder the 3 legs that are left in the board.Radio shack sells a cheap desolder w/ a rubber bulb at the end of a soldering iron to suck the solder out.Either that or Solder Brade to remove the solder holding the 3 legs that are left. When you put a new jack in make sure the nut on the outside in nice and snug, to avoid breakage again.Sorry about the spelling errors:P

Re: Circuit Board Help!! (Something Snapped Off)

I cant really see what happene but if the input jack just brok off and the legs are still attached to the jack it self then you fine and u can solder it back in but if not then get a new jack and solder it in. Just be carful because the compacitors and such are heat sensitive.

Re: Circuit Board Help!! (Something Snapped Off)

You really have no choice but to desolder the whole jack, and use the iron and tweezers to remove the legs that are stuck in there. Then get the part number off the jack, and order the same exact one from the manufacturer because a lot of them look similar, but the pins won't line up. Since it'll take over a week to get that part, leave the amp as is. If you try heating it up too much to bridge all the breaks with solder, you may just melt some of the circuit board tracers in the area.
