The owner or Taylor guitars owns the worlds stock of African Ebony.

I had never played a guitar with ebony until I played a Taylor. It's a lovely wood for a fingerboard. The grain is so much tighter than rosewood, it feels awesome.

Yep sandard ebony boards can have some streaking all black is an upcharge now and with really highly streaked ebony they call it royal Ebony and charge more for it. Was about to post this. Here is one with a Royal Ebony Board from their instock section

The irony is that guitar players want perfectly black ebony with extremely tight, nearly invisible grain. Ok, how about Richlite, it’s all these things? WHAT?!?! NO?!?! That’s not natural wood!

Richlite burns at a higher temperature so it's safer for shredding on too . . .

Richlite also comes in all kinds of patterns and colors, but they only use black for guitars, for some odd reason.
