Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

   One of my favorite bands! Saw 'em several times in the 60's. Lew

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

IMO, Cream invented HEAVY ROCK MUSIC, Clapton invented modern rock guitar tone, and Van Halen would never have sounded like Van Halen if Cream hadn't come along first. Lew

anything to push this post-grunge crap off the radio

and that's an awesome song, so 'sall good

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

my dad took me to see their drummer a few times when i was younger and he was just a regular friendly guy who tore the place to bits even though he didnt move like he was doing so. wont the sound be a little off now since jack bruce plays mostly fretless stuff over his vintage gibson and fender basses as he had gotten rid of the modded eb-3 in a trade for a chapman stick as said in a guitar world from a while back cant remember the one cause someone misplace my mags

CooL! What city did you see them in?

HELL YEAH!!! I don't care if Jack Bruce plays a chapman stick, a fretless bass, or a clarinet. He's still awesome.

Clapton should definitely play his SG again! The fool...:)

I just hope Ginger Baker decides to commit completely to this reunion venture. It would be so cool to hear this trio together again.

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

This seems kinda unnatural. I don't know what are they gonna do? Solo for 40 minutes?

All 3 players have changed a lot in 30 years. I like who clapton is right now with his current band. Clapton really evolved soundwise. He became more mature. I really like Billy Preston, Andy Fairweatherlow, Nathan East and Dave Sanchez. The sound they get as a band is so full and sophisticated.

I don't really know what's the point of Cream re-uniting... Unless they start writing together again.

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

I'm glad to hear it!! I remember when I started playing in the mid 80's my aunt gave me 2 albums: Are You Experiencd and Disrali Gears and was just blown away.

I have been very disapointed in Clapton and his musical direction as of late. Here's a guy that took the guitar and reinvented it to a whole generation of fans in the 60's and 70's. Now fast-forward to the 90's and all he was doing was making these dreadful Ault Contemporary pop albums. I was glad he did the records with BB King and the Robert Johnson thing but I can't think of any solo albums he's done in 20 years that was inspiring guitar wise.

Yes he's still one of the best and he is older (59), but I am hopeful to think he has to have at least one more ferocious guitar album still left in him.

KICKASS!

I wonder if their new stuff will sound like the old cream...

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

I've always dug Cream but I wonder if they'll still be able to play with the same kind of fire like they use to. They were SO intense, to put it mildly. That intensity is what made them. Think they can re-start that fire again?

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

This is awesome news. I was only 1 when they split in 1968 so can't wait to book my ticket for the Royal Albert Hall. It'll be a lifelong dream of mine turned into reality to actually watch a Cream gig - Whoa.. too cool!

Re: Clapton plans Cream's rise to the top again

Wow! That's gonna be awesome. I wonder if Eric will be using the Strat/tweed twin setup, or will he be truly authentic and go with the SG/Plexi rig? Tickets will be in scarce supply, I'm sure. Wonder if they'll make it to Memphis.

Detroit. Grande Ballroom. Back in the psychedelic era of rock n roll! Before speed, downers and alcohol ruined the scene... :saeek:
